Im Rahmen einer Kollaboration mit dem Trickfilmstudio im ZOOM Kindermuseum im Sommer 2010 erhielt ich hunderte Photos und Videos, die Deniz Nergiz mit seiner Schulklasse in Ahlat/Bitlis im Osten der Türkei produziert hatte. Darunter war auch ein Video von seinem Schüler Nihat Deniz. Er singt das kurdische Liebeslied Esmer Eman.

Während meiner Zeit als Artist in Residence in Reykjavík zeigte ich das Video Sindri Helgason. Sindri ist ungefähr im gleichen Alter wie Nihat Deniz und wir produzierten die Animation Ferðalagið zusammen. Als Antwort auf Nihats Video sandten wir das Video an Nihat Deniz und Deniz Nergiz in die Türkei.

Das Projekt funktionierte weitestgehend ohne Sprache, da Sindri und ich weder Kurdisch noch irgendeine gemeinsame Sprache sprechen.

In the scope of a collaboration with the Animated Film Studio at ZOOM Children's Museum during summer 2010, I received hundreds of photos and videos, produced by Deniz Nergiz and his primary school students in Ahlat/Bitlis/Eastern Turkey. Among those files was a video made by Nihat Deniz. He is singing Esmer Eman – a kurdish love song.

During my stay as artist in residence at SIM Reykjavik, I was showing this video to Sindri Helgason. Sindri was approximately of the same age as Nihat Deniz and together we produced the animated film Ferðalagið. Answering Nihats video, we sent our film to Nihat Deniz and Deniz Nergiz.

The whole project worked mostly non-verbal, as Sindri and I did not speak Kurdish nor any other common language.
